East of the Sun West of the Moon

O álbum para a posteridade! East of the Sun foi o responsável pela sobrevivência do a–ha no mercado mundial da música. Enquanto bandas contemporâneas naufragavam por tentarem repetir a fórmula desgastada dos anos 80, o a–ha investiu numa sonoridade mais próxima do rock, e com um nítido amadurecimento nas apresentações ao vivo, fizeram com que a turnê Walk Under Sun Dance Under Moon fosse um verdadeiro sucesso de público. Com esse álbum, a banda iniciou um novo ciclo. A partir de então, o clima oitentista (que foi uma fase muito boa, tanto para os fãs, como para a banda) ficou definitivamente dimensionado aos 3 primeiros álbuns. Como efeito de comparação para os que não acompanham a fundo a trajetória do a–ha, esse disco representa para eles o que Acthung Baby representou para o U2. As bandas inteligentes tiveram sensibilidade suficiente para entenderem que enfrentariam nos anos 90 um mercado altamente revolto, com o regresso do hard rock ao topo da parada, onde mega-bandas como Guns n´roses ditavam o ritmo, e as guitarras voltaram a despertar o desejo dos jovens da época.
